Thinking through something new and unknown in your business can be hard. Operational duties tend to intrude, stifling the flow of creativity needed to generate new ideas and preventing you analyzing them properly and planning well.
Using simple but proven consultancy techniques, we run workshops that enable you and your team to think through a new strategy or initiative, and grapple with new ideas and their consequences. You will emerge with a good collective understanding both of the goal and of the plan for getting there.
A good example of the way that we ensure continuity from strategic thinking to successful implementation is our work in electronic publishing.
We design each workshop according to the business circumstances, but the style will follow the fundamental thinkers principles:
- Choose the right community of people to participate
- Hold the workshop in a venue that minimizes operational distractions
- Consider the goal. Explore it and probe it to specify it with insight
- Use professional facilitation to promote the sharing of ideas and the creation of new ones
- Use impact and achievability analysis to qualify ideas
- Use stakeholder analysis and visioning techniques to really understand what constitutes success
- Identify constraints & conflicts
- Commit to make things happen
We normally capture and write up the results of the workshop for circulation to all participants.
We frequently then run a multi-faceted project planning session with a sub-set of the workshop participants to create an outline project plan.
We will then facilitate a review at an outcome checkpoint session, to ensure that change happens.
